OK, thanks for your reply. Is it worth discussing the now-or-later issue in a different (developers) topic maybe?

I am happy, we arrive to this problem, because bluefox always said, the ACL is not his thing. But if we want to have a version which is compatible with j25, then we need that quickly. there is an alternstive for the acl doing rights, but until now we had nothing similar to the viewing rights.
I really hope, it'S easy to integrate. when I see the proposed changes for 1.9.4 it seemslike that.

Hi Jojo,
merge is complete (since ~10 minutes) but I will make some tests. I'm sure I can send you my changes tomorrow.
btw: Found that the new search plugin already uses the same way as my proposed changes do. So it would be possible to find events which couldn't be shown by any component's view (until tomorrow ).

11 years 4 weeks ago - 11 years 4 weeks agoCorrect, ACL is a pain in the ... But due to recent changes i did get a good impression how it works and think to know what should be changed to integrate it completely.because bluefox always said, the ACL is not his thing.
Partially.there is an alternative for the acl doing rights
The changes of Hoffi are.really hope, it's easy to integrate
As the topic is about the ACL view rights:
Think a thing to do is also to address the situation with multiple category's (with different rights). This as that one is a pain and would be nice to resolve it too.

so we can make step by step. Perhaps after the viewing rights, we find a step near the Joomla Doing rights. Partially.there is an alternative for the acl doing rights.
Partially.
Thanks guys, I think life is coming back.
But be careful, the real life outside is much more important! And there's a big temptation always to work on JEM (even behind the scenes).

Re: ACL view access
11 years 4 weeks agoFrom view rights point of view it's quite easy: If you have an event assigned to cat A and cat B where cat A requires access (view) level A and cat B requires level B an user is allowed to see the event as long as he is member of at least one user group attached to access level A or B.Bluefox wrote: Think a thing to do is also to address the situation with multiple category's (with different rights). The big problems with multiple categories you address start with rights to modify something (create, edit, delete, attach to/from categories, venues etc.). Maybe Joomla itself can help a bit (something like "$user->authorise('core.edit', 'com_jem')" - don't know exact usage at the moment) but Joomla developers where clever enough to avoid multiple categories.
Maybe a possible solution would be to have "master" categories which define modify rights and each event must be attached to exact one of that. Additionally events could be attached to one or more "read-only" categories to allow different presentations of events.
Oops - I had heared about that... :laugh:jojo12 wrote: But be careful, the real life outside is much more important!
