Yes, until now (4.2.2) it is so, if you're changing something in repeated events, then the events are separated in single events.
So it's best to start creating the first event without repeating. You save. Then you reopen it and correct all, you need to change (for all events). Only after this, you open and use the repeated event settings.
If you have changes for single events, then you can change.
But you see the warning, that the group will be changed in single events!
In 4.2.3 which will come next, there are changings, which will make it easier!
