Limit number of events in list events by category or by location

In the basic and wide module as wel as in the content plugin one can select to list only events in the future.

I would like to obtain the same but from clicking on the list by category link or the list by location link
in de display of a single event

With the current software (4.2.0) those links show all non-archived events in the database and that can be a very long list.
I could work around that by archiving events within a shorter period but that has the unwanted side-effect that
the visitor cannot see the past events in the kalender module.

Would a custom ccs be able to accomplish this ?
If not, maybe via new feature request ?

a first quick idea, just to check out and develop further:
Create a template override and add "?limit=5" to the link and you will only see 5 events.

That limits the display to 5 lines, but the visitor would still have to scroll through 10 screens or click on ">>" to find the last 5
and those last five are potentionally not all future events ...

A parameter like "?event=future" would do the trick

I want to understand the new feature, you want to show only the X numbers of events in the single-category and single-venue views, is it right?

If you want to show the next 5 upcoming events for this category, show the list with 5 events, and don't show limit opcion and navigation of pagination, like image:

I want to show all future events by clicking on the category link or on the venue link.
The list should start at the first future event
If there are a large number (>25) of future events the limit box could still be usefull.

I think this is the same, I want:
when I archive all past events after one day, then the calendar view is not nice . The hald calendar is empty.
But when I don't archive or later, I have the problem in event BE and simplelists FE. I have the oldest event on top and I need a lot of work to find the actual date ( the point between past and future).
How is this possible to find this point directly?
the other option would be: the calendar shows the actual month, but the archived and past events are visible in calendar too.
