download pdf files

Dear support team,

I have added a download link to my website to download a PDF file. But I would like to open this file in the browser on a new page instead of downloading it. I've already tried changing it as follows:
<a href="pdf-file.pdf" type="application/pdf" target="_blank">Open PDF in new window</a>
unfortunately that doesn't work. Do I have to select or click on something specific in Joomla so that the file is not downloaded directly but is first opened on a new page in the browser? many thanks for the help.

here u can see the section "dateien" (files), below u can see my integradet PDF. If i click on it, it downloads instantly. I would like to have changed this, that the file opens in the browser.

Hi, I understand what you want, but I don't know how to integrate this and if this is possible. Perhaps someone else? I will post it in github as a feature request.
EDIT:
I've seen this depends on the browser, e.g. in Edge you can decide in the settings, if the pdf is opened or only downloaded.

I prefer JCE Mediabox (from the Joomla extensions): not a completely new page, but like a pop-up.

Just add the link to the PDF file to the text section (under "Beschreibung").
There it will react like any other "normal" PDFs on your site.
