Automatically setting events to delete a day after start date
Automatically setting events to delete a day after start date
6 years 1 month ago
Hello,
On our site, we enter events with a date and start time, but we leave the end date and time blank.
As a result, the automatic function to delete old events does not work. Is there a way to have old events delete a day after the start date when an end date isn't specified?
Thank you,.

Hi,
I nearly never set the endtime and enddate. And the finished events are archived.
Normally the same should work with delete.
Go in Backend to JEM>Settings>Basic Settings>Event Handling>Handle Old Events = Trash or to Delete
Number of Days = 1

Odd, I already had it set like that yet the events just stay in the list with all the others.
Anything I may be missing? I thought that setting only worked with an end date set.

Please try housekeeping>trigger autoarchive. Because normally the events are archived within 24 hours.

Ok, I clicked that and it worked. Does this mean I will have to click that manually to cleanup? There isn't a way to have it run on its own?
Is the intended behavior that it runs automatically? Or is there a cron job or something I have to setup or some plugin?

No, it should work automaticly.
But we don't know anything about your system. On a clean Joomla with only the official Joomla! templates and JEM this works best.
But sometimes there are interferences with other plugins or templates (not congruent) which are causing such problems. But since now never heard.
My proposal is: to archive and after some time the oldest one to delete. In my case this works perfectly.
