Error 1054 - Unknown Column "status" in "where clause"

just installed JEM and hoping I can use it for our DJ calendar. My problem is while I can get to the control panel, clicking Events or Add Event results in:

An error has occurred.
1054 Unknown column 'status' in 'where clause'
Return to Control Panel - which takes me back to the Joomla CP.

i ran "housekeeping" and i think i had an old JEM install here from long ago when repeating events were not working for me, and i deleted 8 event images and now while i can hit EVENTS and get to the screen, hitting "NEW" results in the same error.

so my guess is there's something old in here to clean up but i have no idea if i'm right and if so, how do it. and if wrong, what do i need to do? >g<

first of all: give more information about your system! we have to understand and reproduceyour issue. With such few information we can't help!

latest download yesterday from JEM installed.
i believe i used this well over a year ago and removed it due to how it handled repeating events. if that has not changed or been improved since then let me know and i'll just take it back off again and try something else. thought i read it was better or maybe i can make it work cause i really do like this product.

PHP version: 5.6.30
RocketTheme template (didn't make a difference last time and i'm using the same one today)
i looked at the plugins and some were not active. activated them all - no difference.

i've run all housekeeping again and no difference.

i can hit EVENTS and go to the events list. i hit NEW i get the error in the subject.
I hit "add event" and i get the error.
i can go to category and venue and hit NEW and am able to proceed w/o error.

if you need anything else please let me know, i'd LOVE to get this working. screenshot of the error included.
