Hi,

with this you have an additional way to send someone emails if something changes.

You need to add email address(es) to the category(ies) you like (but the field is limited, so don't try to add hundreds ;) ) and then configure the JEM email plugin. There you can specify on which trigger an email should be sent - e.g. new/changed event/venue, added/removed attendee.

But all ways will only send "ordinary" emails. If you want to have ical attached you have to enhance the email plugin (.../plugins/jem/email/ ).

btw: Because you must list email addresses on each category it could be horrible if one changes. If you don't use JEM groups yet using them to collect users to receive emails (with or without givíng them permissions to add/edit events or venues as you like) could be a better alternative. There user accounts are used where user itself could change the email address - and the new one will be used without any additional work.
You can connect up to one JEM group on a category, every user can be "member" of as much JEM groups as you like. So in worst case you have one JEM group for each JEM category.

I'm responding to reword your statement and check on my understanding.

There is only a single switch to send an email and to whom that email is going to be sent. It is the choice of the Category. The Categories have Groups assigned, or doesn't have to have any. So, to be selective, I have to have multiple categories of types for each Group
  • Events-of-type1 (to all users) with a group users
  • Events-of-type1 (to editors) with a group editors
  • Events-of-type1 (to admins) with a group admins
  • Events-of-type2 (to all users) with a group users
  • Events-of-type2 (to editors) with a group editors
  • Events-of-type2 (to admins) with a group admins

What I'm missing is to have this as a combination switch: Send an email of the
  • Events-of-type1
  • Events-of-type2
to the group (selected)
  • users
  • editors
  • admins

Such as Joomla CMS has it for the Articles: If the article belongs to a Category for which the user doesn't have any View Access, the user cannot see that Article (and consequently no notification is going to be issued). Any plans to implement it similarly, please?

The first list shows the way I'm doing it right now. Not literally, but using event_type1 for various groups and event_type_ for various groups. The combination of the second and the third list is the way I'd like it to be working.
