Using JEM for a whole week event program

oh sure! Sorry for lacking clarity :(

It is a promotional week organizing various events from Saturday 10am in April until Friday 8pm the following week. I would like to show a calendar of that "week" which is from Saturday April 4th to Friday April 10th, and as I said earlier probably without the week number displayed.
The view is somehow static as I don't need/want the events to disappear once they have happened.

I hope this description is better.

Thank you very much

the description is better but was confused as a week starts here on a monday, but it seems you want to show the daysof 2 weeks.

as the calendar class is based upon starting at a monday cq sunday that will give problems. it's possible to show 2 rows (the 2 weeks) but think you like to have it at 1 row? if it's for 1 row then it's most likely that the calendar class needs to be rewritten and am not in favor of doing that soon.

will take a quick peak later today..

ok. I understand it was a lot of different questions/requests into one problem. I don't mind doing some local php hack just for my installation ;)
The main issue so far was for me to display that week in the future. You seem to say that it is possible, right?

basicly it is.

The thing is that a lot is possible but it will require knowledge of editing php files.
But with the current files it's not possible.

Hi Bfred,

let me try to answer some things as good as I understood.

  • In JEM's calendars a week (row) can start on Sunday or Monday, but not on other days. So that can only be changed by editing php files. (unfortunately the code is "optimised" to these two possibilities so these changes are a bit more complex)
  • You would like to remove the week number so I think you talk about the week calendar. There the weeknum is "hardcoded" enabled but can be disabled by changing the php code a bit (one line).
  • Not removing old events is no problem. In JEM Settings you can set "Handle old events" to "do nothings" or specify an offset large enough.
  • Setting the week shown to a fixed date is not possible except... changing php code (one line). For some views you can specify an offset but this is always related to today. Also the week calendar doesn't provide this option.
  • As alternative to the week calendar (which is a "full" view in content area) you could also use the calendar module. But this also requires modifications listed above and additional limiting it to a single week. Also it's very small and doesn't directly show the events, only as tooltip - so maybe no alternative for you.
So generally its possible but it requires PHP coding experience. If you could live with two weeks shown the rest could be reached by changing two lines of code (as long as you don't need the week calendar view with normal behaviour in parrallel).

Thank you guys for these rather positive answers. I'll take a look into the files and let you know if I struggle too hard. It seems at least that I could get 80-90% of my wishes granted. Definitely not bad! :D
