Hi Speedy,

just for better understanding: Had you previously JComments working fine on that site? And after installing JEM it no longer works? Then you should disable all JEM plugins for test and try if JComments work on articles. I'm relatively sure that JEM doesn't influence JComments on articles - but the world is complex so nobody knows...

Hi Hoffy,

I install J Comments after JEM. Because I need the comment function only in the calender.
So I don't know if JComments works without JEM. My feeling said JComments works not without JEM too....

CComments works.. but not with JEM.....

Ok, thanks. Then I think it's a little configuration problem. As far as I remember JComments not is very easy to configure.
At the moment I have no specific idea where to search...

hmm.

comments in calendar? it should be possible to post to individual events but am wondering about the calendar.

do you have a link/screenshot?. the JEM trigger for firing up the comment system is within event view but not on every view so that can be a problem.

jcomments should be working fine without JEM but it can be that a 3rd party plugin is messing with it.

about ccomment: the core version will only work with articles. there is a version you can pay for and it will support some extensions but as they didn't create a plugin for JEM that version won't be working with JEM.

@Speedy: I think you should try to get JComments running on normal Joomla articles first. If you work on a test site fine. If you're on your production site you should create a new (Joomla) category, set Access level to "special" and add a article, also set to "special". This ensures it's only visible to admins, managers etc. but not to all registered users and guests. Then in JComments settings, General page select only this category. Now you should see the comment form on the new article but not somewhere else.
Regarding the other settings:
I have set "Enable plugins" to Yes, but No should also work. "Always include comments..." is No.
On Layout - Comment list I have Tree Chronological, Comment form Default Show, Position after.
Permissions doesn't influence visibility in general.
On Restrictions - Security ensure not to have Blacklisting enabled or not to have your login name on the Blacklist. Not sure if it is smart enough to accept all logged in users.
On Messages you should type in some text in each field. This may help in finding the problem.
Then you can check that your IP address is not listed on Blacklist.
Next is to check the plugins. Go to Plugin Manager and filter by "jcomments". Ensure "Content - JComments", "System - JComments" and "User - JComments" are enabled.
In Content plugin I have set Content Event to onAfterDisplayContent.
In System plugin I have all options set to No, maybe it should adapted on a live site, but now we should disable as less as possible.
The modules are not really required but you can try if they show anything. You can set their Access level to "special" to hide them for "normal" users.

If this doesn't help there's another problem like a conflict with a foreign plugin.
Last edit: 10 years 3 months ago by Hoffi. Reason: grrr - I meant "special" not "registered"!

Hi,
thanks for the answers.
@bluefox
Background why comments in calender.
I take the calender for samples of musician visits. So the musician can sign in oder sign off for an Event.
If they come later, they write an comment to the Event.

@hoffi
thanks for the description. I try it at evening.
