just a note:

The JEM 1.9.x versions are intended for Joomla 2.5+ but there will be a JEM version for Joomla 3.5. It seems that J3.5 (final) is going to be released in March 2014 according to the faq so we do have some time for it.

The current version of JEM will install within J3 but as some code is deprecated and a different admin template is being used it will give headaches as the backend-layout is messed up. The front is working.

If you really need a version for J3 at this moment it can be done but it will take some time to replace classes, code, etc.. // but you have to do it yourself

There is a change in policy. It seems that with Joomla 3.1 the recommendation is to start a new page page Joomla 3.1 instead of 2.5 ( www.joomla.org/download.html ):
Download Joomla! 3.1 (Recommended for most new sites)

@Rooney

The link you're mentioning is something i've seen, but also the message in the FAQ.
Sites that are currently on Joomla 2.5 are encouraged to stay on 2.5, until Joomla 3.5’s release, unless they need to be moved over sooner to take advantage of Joomla 3’s new feature

But that said a lot of people will move over to joomla 3 as it's new and available for download at their site. And people starting with sites will install it.

A version for J3+ will mean a complete rework of files, but it will be done. only not sure when. it seems better to get listed at JED and try to get more people involved with the development and then orient at J3

Well, I just saw one extension "jumping the train too late". Joomfish is more or less dead, because they were not able to present an import function and the same features in the new 2.5 version.

I know that the situation is different for JEM, because it's non-commercial, but March 2014 is far too late. The Joomla team recommended Jommla 2.5 just a couple of months ago. Now they changed their opinion about 180 degree: docs.joomla.org/Joomla_3_FAQ#I.27m_building_a_brand_new_site._Should_I_launch_a_Joomla.21_2.5_site_or_a_3.x_site.3F

I guess it is because everybody wants to try something new and the major template clubs supported Joomla 3.0 in a very early stage.

@rooney

you do have a point, but we also have the issue that the component is not listed at JED and that we have a small dev-team. And yep it's free and i do think it should be like that (unlike the way other forks of el are doing it).

perhaps it's possible to make a version for J3+ with minimal changes and gradually adjust it.

I am not a developer, so I am not able to help with php. Css perhaps. And testing.

I am running EventList on two of my pages and just came here two weeks ago realizing that the is a development is going on. Good to know!
