Turn on jcomments in JEM?
6 years 1 month ago
In JEM, where is the pull-down menu to select jcomments as the public comment tool? I turned it off yesterday and for the life of me I cannot remember how to turn it back on... or am I imagining things and turning it on for JEM is handled in Joomla proper?

How did you turn it off. And did you refresh the cache?

Re: Turn on jcomments in JEM?
6 years 1 month agoI don't remember where I turned it off. Thusly my question. Refreshing the cache may or may not be necessary, but that still doesn't point me to the location of the pull down menu allowing an admin to select comments (or, presumably another tool?) as the public comment tool.jojo12 wrote: How did you turn it off. I'm not sure if this was a JEM-specific item, or a site-proper item - in my old age I just can't remember where I turned it off.

There seems indeed to be some inconsistences. Normally I don't use jcomments anymore because of abuse of comments.
I installed jcomments on a fresh Joomla 3.9 and JEM and tested. I had some deprecated notifications
The first time the possibility to create comments was there, then I disabled jcomments. After some time I reenabled it, but then I got only a footer which leads to jcomments. No possibility to create comments.
Sorry, but it seems Jcomments is over
EDIT: I tried again on a site where jcomments were just installed but disabled.
The jcomments plugins must be activated
The jcomments settings and user rights must be set!
the JEM jcomments must be activated and inside the plugin jcomments must be chosen.
in my site on Joomla 3.9 and JEM 2.3.2 with JEM Responsive it works!

There seems to be problems with php 7.2 and the official download 3.0.7
but there is in github:
github.com/exstreme/Jcomments-Recaptcha2/blob/Develop/com_jcomments_v3.0.7.3.zip
which works even with JEM
