improve of mailing + attending options

hi people,

it has been asked before but am creating a seperate topic.

the thing is that I do like to see the mailing-part to be changed a bit more. like having a JEM-profile or something like that where you can set some mailing options. or a cb tab with settings. and there are some other things. beside of that I also like to see some improved/added options for attending.

have to say that my intention was to tackle some of the things myself a while back but had reasons not to do so.

at the moment I'm considering to take it up once again but have to say that I'm no fan of adressing 2 Joomla versions. So am going into account only Joomla 3. will search the feature topic this week to look for suggestions that were made regarding "attending+ mailing" and then it's time to address them if possible.

when I do commit code it will be to a test branch.

am thinking of a few tings to tackle...

Simple form for mailing to registered people
would like to see an option in the backend where we can send an email to the attendees.
- maybe in the backend attendees view and a special layout.
- if we want to just mail to 1 person it should also be possible.
- so a button of "send mail" might be an option.
- messages can be stored in a table so we can look back of what was send to the user(s)
fields like: event-id, users, message-id, date/time


Tick box for user to select if they want to be notified upon event-updates
It might be good if a user can select if they want to be notified upon an edit of the event.
- checkbox within event-view that the user can tick to be notified
- tickbox/image in profile/myattending view?
- etc...

Option to set closing date of registering/attending
not sure if it was added but it would be good to add the option for a closing date of attending. beside that it will also be good to add a date for unregistering. If a user is visiting the event after the specified date they won't be able to register or unregister.

when I attend an event, I have to know, if there's a change in event details. So a choice does not make sense!

if only administrators are event creators this is ok, but JEM is made for event creators who only have access from frontend..
And it will be difficult if the creator wants to mail, he must ask an administrator to send mails.

maybe, maybe not..... ah well won't spend time to this one then,. but think the user should have an option if he wants to receive email: event-change, event-messages, etc...

Why not integrating e.g. uddeIM like Kunena does? In our case by pre-loading all (or in attendee list selected) users. Ok, this would be frontend instead of backend. :whistle:

You refer to the enhanced mailer of JEM 2.1.5? There the attendees maybe nerved because they can't switch off emails on event/venue changes.
But I think a Subscribe feature is a complex thing taking a lot of weeks to get it stable running.
