FR: A note to an event organizer from a user

This is great event system.

A feature that I don't think is in the current version. Say a user Joe knows he will be 15 to 20 min late for the event. It would be nice to have the ability to add a note when registering or anytime before event takes place.

Second idea is to have the ability from with in the event to email all or just organizer. (Maybe that is controlled by site admin to because I can see so people not wanting everyone to getting the emails.)

welcome on our forum. I would say the things you miss are generally already possible.

If you create an event you can select a Contact. Also you can show the Creator name. Both will link to a Contact you can create using Joomla's Contacts component. On click user will get an emai form.

If you have Community Builder installed this could be a second way. There's a plugin which converts creator names to links to their CB profile. One the user has all possibilities CB provies, e.g. sending a PM.

A third way would be to use JComments to allow everybody to comment anything. That's of course "to all" instead of "personal/secret message to creator".
Other commenting componts may work too, but for JComents we already providie plugins.

about the mailing part..

something that has been mentioned before by other users is to have a feature from the backend/frontend to the attendees of that event. Something like the option "users->Mass mail users" of Joomla. Maybe it's indeed something to add to JEM.

I'm just using JEM for 15 friends, so add another application/module is just more work for me to setup and configure, just trying to keep it simple.

On a side note I have seen other CMS forum where if you create an event in the calendar it would create a new topic in a category set by the admin. That is another way for someone to comment on the event.

ah yes it is.

not sure if you meant the Kunena forum but am aware that, with some work, it's possible to use that Kunena-Discuss plugin for commenting to the events. One problem is that we also need to address a Kunena core file, this as JEM is having the option to attach an event to multiple categories.

ah well the things you mentioned are good things to think about..
