Feature requests for JEM 2.0 - initial public release
FR: Registering groups of users in backend
FR: Registering groups of users in backend

Hi, I am recalling of an old feature request:
(situation: there's a club which has a training on a special date. normally should participate each member.
How can a member inform, that he can't participate?
My solution would be: the administrator registers all members for this event. Then the members can unregister for that event. Now you can know, how many persons will participate.
Now the feature request: It would be helpful, to assign users to a group. Then you can register the whole group with one click!
this could be helpful too for classes....

did see it but had not much to say about it.
think it can be usefull. we do have an option for adding a attendee so why not adding an option where you can select a group.

Hi Jojo,
I have no problem with this feature, but I think this doesn't solve the problem you described.
What do you know if nobody unregisters?
I mean, currently you know attendees will attend, all others may or may not.
With your "pre-register" you know some will not attend, all others may or may not.
What's if one has not unregistered but doesn't come? You can't say "You had registered!". The only you can say to others "You had unregistered! Why are you here?!"
Actually you could fear you'll be alone but then (positive) surprised how much are coming.
With pre-register you may think "Wow, full house" - and than left alone...
For me the only real solution would be to have a "tri-state": allow users to explicitely register or unregister by showing both checkboxes together. This will conflict a bit with current options / meaning of these options so there is a good philosophy required. Also I fear the db table and model must be adapted to handle records of non-attendees. But that's the only way to know who will come, who not, and who you should directly ask (if important).

@Hoffi:
you're right, but that was a real case which came long time ago.
And inside of our system, you can't resolve it, because:
You can only unregister, when you were registered before.
Perhaps it would be better to have a third possibility: will attend, no reaction, will not attend.
So I fully agree with you about the tri-state option. (CB groupjive has such thing)
[but I would prefere to have this option in JEM].
