I think it would be a great enhancement! Off course for > 2.0, but I'm definitely in favour of putting it on the wish-list.

about the view:

maybe it's something that can be
handled in 1 form field. output the available cols for that view and keep name - percentage at 1 line.
so the output will have multiple lines

(hide/show) doesn't have to be there as people can select the cols they want to display. for example by a thickbox. or in the row below the col.

those settings have to be checked against the global ones and if needed it needs to be overwritten.
