News ticker compatability

I currently use the S5 News Ticker and have to manually enter events in it from EventList and have to manually delete each item after the actual event has happened, all of which is quite time consuming.

You can see an example of the way I use the S5 News Ticker at gbc.org.uk/ (see the green heading: UPCOMING MEETINGS, EVENTS AND BREAKING NEWS on the right side of the front page).

Could a similar Event Ticker module be developed that would automatically add events from JEM and delete them automatically when they had expired?

It would need to display the time and date, the location (optionally) and the event synopsis (which could be a shortened version of the full event description text). It would be good if you could configure how many events it would cycle through in the display and if each text would transition/fade to the next text.

That would be awesome!

Thanks

Andy

It is definitively possible to program a plugin with the desired behavior.

However, your request is very specialized, so this is nothing we will program in the foreseeable future. It also depends on how this news ticker works, whether it is easy to add and delete ticker news. May be it even has an API or so.

As I said, we are working on the first release of JEM, so may be another user can help you to create such a plugin.
