Current status?

I want to use JEM on my website(s), but in general my users are so computer illiterate I need to make some changes.

I have a little time available so would be happy to do some coding, but I can't (easily) see what the current status is.
Have the ACL changes gone as far as they're going to for the moment?
Are there any other changes in progress?
If "yes" and "no", is it a good time to merge 2.1.5 and 3.whatever-it-is?

Is this a helpful conversation to start?

Hi, thanks for your offer. I think you should be able to open Project and then tasklist.JEM2. There are changes on the way, you should know.
It would be important to know, what kind of changes do you need.

I had a look on the project menu here, but couldn't see a task list. Is the changelog the task list? I thought it would be the things already fixed. I can only see about half a dozen bugs in the bugtracker, nothing less than a year old, except the one I entered yesterday.

What do I want? At the moment, because that's what I'm looking at, more control over the edit event page. There is some configuration control over some, but many things that can't be switched off there are very confusing for naive users, (access, meta data, for example), and boy have I got some naive users. Some things look to me like the user shouldn't have control (status, for example). I know I can create overrides for these, and perhaps making everything configurable is too fussy, but some of these things are a real problem, for my sites at least.

I'd be happy to help with merging the 2.x and 3.x branches, but that's why I asked how much change is coming soon. I saw Bluefox say (ten months ago) that he was waiting for the ACL changes in 2.x before thinking about that.

Nope, I don't have that at all. There are only three items on that pad for me, changelog, bugtracker, and about, as in the attached image.
