Front end publish, unpublish and trash don't work for events
Front end publish, unpublish and trash don't work for events
8 months 2 weeks ago
I now realise that end users can't publish/unpublish/trash their events on the front end and want to hide the icons. This is awkward because frequently people end up with duplicate events because they've edited one. I need to make the "create a new set of events" into a "replace the original events" I think a simple "delete original events" option is what I need but don't have a clue where to start.

It's not entirely relevant but I found this problem because I setup a table to limit users to events they've paid for and when they duplicate events it takes them over the limit and they can't sort it out without admin help.

I can't reproduce your issue. With the official code a user who is able to create/edit/copy events can hide/delete events in frontend too. If I remember right, it's because you wanted to hide this possibility. Perhaps you have to disable your override to try the official part of JEM.

Sorry it was an "end of a long day" post and I realise I was not providing enough information to go on. I have not done any code overrides (using sql triggers) and want to hide the icons simply because they don't work. I can unpublish/trash/delete on the back end but not on the front end. If I can hide the icons for unpublish and trash I can create a module that performs those functions for frontend users. I was thinking that I'd seen a setting to show/hide the various icons but I'm starting to wonder if I imagined it. Thanks for listening...

I can't follow you: you say the icons for unpublisdh and trash don't work in frontend, because normally they work.
If I have the rights to edit events, the icon for editing opens a window and the third tab "publish" gives the possibiltiy to publish, unpublish and trash. you move to the button and change

This is what the end user sees - I created the event unpublished clicked the "publish" icon, it says "1 item successfully published" but its not true. The same occurs with unpublish and trash, it was end users that alerted me to this after they'd duplicated serial events trying to make a small change.
