Hey folks,
are there any news? It's so quiet (apart from Bluefox posting constantly, of course
)
I think every once in a while, a summary of things that have progressed and things that did not go forward would be nice.

Perhaps Ernst can tell you more about that, but i do agree that that would be a good thing. ah well what i can say is that i do have a test-version with a lot of v1.1 and definately would like to post the changes to Github. You've probably seen it. It will not be an alright version but maybe it can be developed further or otherwise the changes can be used with development. some feedback would be nice.
But like you said we should set-up an account at github and post Eventlist v1.02 as the start. And then post modifications etc and use the bugtracker. Also the other things are important (roadmap). i did register github.com/jemeventmanager (or joomlaeventmanager) and perhaps it is a good thing to just start there. Actually i'm thinking of posting the changes next week, just don't want to wait much longer.
But then it will lead to another question: who decides what to do and what kind of changes will be accepted.. one major thing in that will be the projectleader. Example: Eventlist was loading params by the file config.xml but i did change that in my version and it's loading from the table settings, who says that that is like it should be?. The settings view is also different ah well..
There will soon be an idea/suggestions module & Projectfork is going to be used. I guess one of the things we have to do is to look at the internal code. For the first version of JEM that can be postponed but we have to make sure that there is added functionality (requirements for a fork). The main point will be an listing in the JED.
Also upgrading from older versions is an issue. upgrading shouldn't be that difficult unless you're using multiple categories. In that case the exta table (cats_relations) is used and that's not being used in Eventlist v1.02. We can also comparise the table structure form the v1.1 version and make sure that it exists in v1.02. But there will be added fields or fields that not are being used.
luckily there is an import & export view (in my test version) so that should not be to difficult to export an csv from excel alter it and then import it. but that said i'm thinking about making a few extra options. (like export & import groupmembersm, attachments, etc... )
Something else we can do is to make an export/import view for Joomla 1.5 so people can export their information in a simple way. But that can be all explained in a nice tutorial.
Perhaps i wrote to much at the moment, ah well

hi people,.
It has been a while,.
but just wanted to say that there will be a news/update section soon. In there we will give you information about things that are going to happen or did happen. Just some info to get you informed.
Some of you did probably see it but we do have a Github account, and it's located at: github.com/jemproject . At that site you'll find a folder called "JEM-11-CONVERSION", this is the folder with a pre-testversion of JEM. We're trying to make a test version available around 1 July (this year B) ) so you can download it easily and test it.
At that same github location you can find the issue/bugtracker for that version, issues can also be posted here in the forum. You can take a peak to see what's going on. Remember: Several issues will be fixed before 1 July.
info about the current version.
- To begin: it's basically Eventlist v1.1 with several bugfixes & minor improvements
- It does have the options of EL v1.1
- The tablestructure is also a lot the same
- it has a new imageclass, thumbs generating is better
- it supports Joomla 2.5.6 and higher
- it will have 2 modules (basic & wide)
- it will have 3 plugins (mailer, comments, search)
- searching is fixed, it had some troubles with v1.1
After that release we will be looking at the feature requests, needed to get it listed in the JED, and we'll be looking at the internal code of the models/controllers/forms etc.. but that's for the long run.
Some more info:
Joomla 3
At the moment we're concentrating at Joomla 2.5.6 and higher. But did try to install it in Joomla 3.0 and and at first sight it seems to be running, but the layout is in the back is not nice and there are probably some other issues. We will be looking at Joomla 3 later on.
Upgrading from Joomla 1.5, Eventlist v1.1 to JEM
If you have Joomla 1.5 with Eventlist v1.1 you won't have much trouble with upgrading as the tablestructure is a lot the same. There will be some documentation about the export/import process at that time.
Transifex
We will be using Transifex (website) for translating.
Well, perhaps i've forgotten to mention something or said it wrong but if so there is always someone to correct me

Great that you folks are taking up the project again. I know too little of programming to be of any help - but I could provide assistance with translations. The EL1.02 ini de-DE eg. files had lot of mistakes which I corrected for my copy on my local server.
In the old EL forum I remember to have found solutions for
- Google map integration
- Heading at pages
- correct "breadcrumbs" pathway
I would like if these could be integrated in JEM.
Also the recurrence-event-with-sunday-fix plugin would be nice to have it included and a public holiday calendar to exclude them as recurrent events…
So please let me know, if I may help.
