Is there any plan to integrate the request from @hekla on www.joomlaeventmanager.net/forum/jem-2-2-x-on-joomla-3/10298-setting-handle-old-evens - to automatically unpublish old JEM events? Would be great!

I tried your proposals from github. They seem to work fine. I don't have experience with the results in seekmachines. But I propose to pull the changes into the code! pull request=yes. But I will not do this->someone else!
